Nehemiah 5

1: And there was_H1961 a outcry_H6818 of the people_H5971 and their wives_H0802 great_H1419 against_H0413 their brothers_H0251 the Jews._H3064

2: For there were_H3426 those_H0834 who said,_H0559 our sons,_H1121 and our daughters,_H1323 we [are],_H0587 many-_H7227 therefore let us get_H3947 grain_H1715 that we may eat,_H0398 and live._H2421

3: And there were_H3426 [some] who_H0834 said,_H0559 our lands,_H7704 and vineyards,_H3754 and houses,_H1004 we_H0587 have mortgaged_H6148 that we might buy_H3947 grain,_H1715 because of the famine._H7458

4: And there were_H3426 those who_H0834 said,_H0559 we have borrowed_H3867 money_H3701 for tax,_H4060 of the king_H4428 [on] our lands_H7704 and vineyards._H3754

5: And yet now_H6258 as the flesh_H1320 of our brothers,_H0251 our flesh [is]_H1320 as our children_H1121 their children._H1121 And indeed,_H2009 we_H0587 are forcing_H3533 -_H0853 our sons_H1121 and_H0853 our daughters_H1323 to be slaves,_H5650 and_H3426 [some] of our daughters_H1323 have been brought into slavery_H3533 and [it is] not_H0369 in the power_H0410 of our hands [to redeem them]_H3027 for our lands_H7704 and vineyards_H3754 have other men._H0312

6: And became angry_H2734 very_H3966 when_H0834 I heard_H8085 -_H0853 their outcry_H2201 and_H0853 words_H1697 these._H0428

7: And after thought_H4427 serious,_H3820 with_H5921 and I rebuked_H7378 -_H0853 the nobles,_H2715 and_H0853 rulers,_H5461 and said_H0559 usury_H5378 each_H0376 of from his brother._H0251 You_H0859 is exacting_H5383 so I called_H5414 against them_H5921 assembly_H6952 a great._H1419

8: And I said_H0559 we_H0587 have redeemed_H7069 -_H0853 our brothers_H0251 the Jews,_H3064 who were sold_H4376 to the nations-_H1471 According to ability_H1767 and indeed even_H1571 you_H0859 will sell_H4376 -_H0853 your brothers?_H0251 Or should they be sold_H4376 and they were silenced,_H2790 and nothing_H3808 found_H4672 [to [say]._H1696 Then I said,_H0559 not_H3808 [is] good_H2896 that_H1697 what_H0834 you_H0859 are doing-_H6213 Should not_H3808 in the fear_H3374 of our God_H0430 you walk_H1980 because of the reproach_H2781 of the nations_H1471 our enemies?_H0341

10: and also,_H1571 I_H0589 [with] my brothers,_H0251 and my servants,_H5288 am lending_H5383 money_H3701 and grain._H1715 Let us stop_H5800 please_H4994 -_H0853 usury_H4855 this._H2088

11: Restore,_H7725 now_H4994 even this day,_H3117 their lands,_H7704 their vineyards,_H3754 their olive groves,_H2132 and their houses,_H1004 and a hundredth_H3967 of the money,_H3701 and the grain,_H1715 the new wine,_H8492 and the oil,_H3323 that_H0834 you_H0859 have charged_H5383

12: So they said_H0559 we will restore [it]_H7725 and from them_H1992 nothing_H3808 will require_H1245 so_H3651 we will do_H6213 as_H0834 you_H0859 say._H0559 And I called_H7121 -_H0853 the priests,_H3548 and required an oath from them_H7650 that they would do_H6213 according to promise_H1697 this._H2088

18: And [that] which_H0834 was_H1961 prepared_H6213 for one_H3117 day_H0259 ox_H7794 [was] one_H0259 [and] sheep-_H6629 six_H8337 choice_H1305 and fowl_H6833 were prepared_H6213 and once every_H0996 ten_H6235 days_H3117 of all [kinds]_H3605 of wine-_H3196 an abundance_H7235 and yet in spite_H5973 of this_H2088 provisions_H3899 of the governor,_H6346 not_H3808 I did demand_H1245 because_H3588 was heavy_H3513 the bondage_H5656 on_H5921 people_H5971 this._H2088
