2: So said_H0559 David_H1732 to_H0413 Joab_H3097 and to_H0413 and the commanders_H8269 of the troops,_H5971 go,_H1980 number_H5608 -_H0853 Israel_H3478 Beersheba_H0884 and to_H5704 Dan-_H1835 and bring_H0935 to me_H0413 that I may know [it]_H3045 -_H0853 the number of them._H4557

3: And answered,_H0559 Joab_H3097 May make more_H3254 Yahweh_H3068 unto_H5921 His people_H5971 than they are_H1992 a hundred_H3967 times_H6471 [are] but not_H3808 my lord_H0113 the king,_H4428 they all_H3605 of my lord_H0113 servants?_H5650 why [then]_H4100 does require_H1245 this [thing]?_H2063 my lord_H0113 why_H4100 should he be a cause_H1961 of guilt_H0819 in Israel?_H3478

4: and nevertheless word_H1697 of the king_H4428 prevailed_H2388 against_H5921 Joab._H3097 Therefore departed,_H3318 Joab_H3097 and went_H1980 throughout all_H3605 Israel,_H3478 and came_H0935 to Jerusalem._H3389

5: And gave_H5414 Joab_H3097 -_H0853 the sum_H4557 of the number_H4662 of the people_H5971 to_H0413 David._H1732 And_H1961 all_H3605 Israel [had]_H3478 a thousand_H0505 thousand_H0505 and a hundred_H3967 thousand_H0505 men_H0376 who drew_H8025 the sword-_H2719 and Judah [had]_H3063 four_H0702 hundred_H3967 and seventy_H7657 thousand_H0505 men_H0376 who drew_H8025 the sword._H2719

6: But Levi_H3878 and Benjamin_H1144 not_H3808 he did count_H6485 among them_H8432 for_H3588 was abominable_H8581 word_H1697 of the king_H4428 to_H0854 Joab._H3097

7: And was displeased_H7489 was displeased_H5869 God_H0430 with_H5921 thing-_H1697 this_H2088 therefore He struck_H5221 -_H0853 Israel._H3478

8: So said_H0559 David_H1732 to_H0413 God,_H0430 I have sinned_H2398 greatly,_H3966 because_H0834 I have done_H6213 -_H0853 thing._H1697 This_H2088 but now,_H6258 take away_H5674 I pray,_H4994 -_H0853 the iniquity_H5771 of Your servant-_H5650 for_H3588 I have done foolishly_H5528 very._H3966

9: And spoke_H1696 Yahweh_H3068 to_H0413 Gad,_H1410 seer,_H2374 of David_H1732 saying,_H0559

10: go_H1980 and tell_H1696 unto_H0413 David,_H1732 saying,_H0559 thus_H3541 says_H0559 Yahweh,_H3068 three [things]_H7969 I_H0589 offer_H5186 you_H5921 choose_H0977 one of_H0259 them_H2007 that I may do [it]_H6213

11: So came_H0935 Gad_H1410 to_H0413 David,_H1732 and said_H0559 thus_H3541 says_H0559 Yahweh,_H3068 Choose_H6901

12: Either_H0518 three_H7969 years_H8141 of famine-_H7458 or_H0518 three_H7969 months_H2320 to be defeated_H5595 by_H6440 your foes,_H6862 and with the sword_H2719 of your enemies_H0341 overtaking [you]_H5381 or else_H0518 three_H7969 for days_H3117 the sword_H2719 of Yahweh,_H3068 and the plague,_H1698 in the land,_H0776 and with the angel_H4397 of Yahweh_H3068 destroying_H7843 throughout all_H3605 the territory_H1366 of Israel._H3478 Now_H6258 consider_H7200 what_H4100 I should take back_H7725 for_H0854 to Him who sent me_H7971 answer._H1697

13: And said_H0559 David_H1732 to_H0413 Gad,_H1410 in distress_H6862 great_H3966 let me fall_H5307 please_H4994 into the hand_H3027 of Yahweh-_H3068 for_H3588 great_H7227 His mercies [are]-_H7356 very_H3966 but into the hand_H3027 of man_H0120 not_H0408 do let me fall._H5307

14: So sent_H5414 Yahweh_H3068 a plague_H1698 upon Israel-_H3478 and fell_H5307 of Israel_H3478 seventy_H7657 thousand_H0505 men._H0376

15: And sent_H7971 God_H0430 an angel_H4397 to Jerusalem_H3389 to destroy it_H7843 and as he was destroying,_H7843 looked,_H7200 Yahweh_H3068 and relented_H5162 of_H5921 the disaster,_H7451 and said_H0559 to the angel_H4397 who was destroying,_H7843 it is enough,_H7227 now_H6258 restrain_H7503 your hand._H3027 And the angel_H4397 of Yahweh_H3068 stood_H5975 by_H5973 the threshing floor_H1637 of Ornan_H0771 the Jebusite._H2983

16: And lifted_H5375 David_H1732 -_H0853 his eyes,_H5869 and saw_H7200 -_H0853 the angel_H4397 of Yahweh_H3068 standing_H5975 between_H0996 earth_H0776 and_H0996 heaven,_H8064 and sword_H2719 having a drawn_H8025 in his hand_H3027 stretched out_H5186 over_H5921 Jerusalem._H3389 So fell_H5307 David_H1732 and the elders_H2205 clothed_H3680 in sackcloth,_H8242 on_H5921 their faces._H6440

17: And said_H0559 David_H1732 to_H0413 God,_H0430 Was not_H3808 I_H0589 it who commanded_H0559 to be numbered?_H4487 the people_H5971 and I_H0589 am_H1931 the one who_H0834 has sinned_H2398 and indeed_H7489 done evil-_H7489 but these_H0428 sheep,_H6629 what_H4100 have they done?_H6213 Yahweh_H3068 my God,_H0430 be_H1961 I pray,_H4994 let Your hand,_H3027 and house-_H1004 my father's_H0001 but against Your people,_H5971 not_H3808 that they should be plagued._H4046

18: Therefore the angel_H4397 of Yahweh_H3068 commanded_H0559 unto_H0413 Gad_H1410 to say_H0559 to David,_H1732 that_H3588 should go,_H5927 David_H1732 and erect_H6965 an altar_H4196 to Yahweh_H3068 on the threshing floor_H1637 of Ornan_H0771 the Jebusite._H2983

19: So went up_H5927 David_H1732 at the word_H1697 of Gad,_H1410 which_H0834 he had spoken_H1696 in the name_H8034 of Yahweh._H3068

20: And turned,_H7725 Ornan_H0771 and saw_H7200 -_H0853 the angel-_H4397 and four_H0702 his sons_H1121 [who were] with him_H5973 hid themselves._H2244 But Ornan_H0771 continued threshing_H1758 wheat._H2406

21: And came_H0935 David_H1732 to_H5704 Ornan,_H0771 and looked_H5027 Ornan_H0771 and saw_H7200 -_H0853 David,_H1732 and he went out_H3318 from_H4480 the threshing floor,_H1637 and bowed_H7812 before David_H1732 with [his] face_H0639 to the ground._H0776

22: And said_H0559 David_H1732 to_H0413 Ornan,_H0771 Grant_H5414 the place_H4725 of [this] threshing floor,_H1637 that I may build_H1129 an altar_H4196 to Yahweh-_H3068 at the price-_H3701 full_H4392 You shall grant it_H5414 that may be withdrawn_H6113 the plague_H4046 from_H5921 the people._H5971

23: And said_H0559 Ornan_H0771 to_H0413 David,_H1732 take [it]_H3947 and let do_H6213 my lord_H0113 the king_H4428 [what is] good_H2896 in his eyes._H5869 Look,_H7200 I [also] give [you]_H5414 the oxen_H1241 for burnt offerings,_H5930 and the threshing implements_H4173 for wood,_H6086 and the wheat_H2406 for the grain offering-_H4503 all_H3605 I give [it]._H5414

24: And said_H0559 King_H4428 David_H1732 to Ornan,_H0771 No-_H3808 but_H3588 surely_H7069 I will buy [it]_H7069 for the price-_H3701 full_H4392 for_H3588 not_H3808 I will take_H5375 what is_H0834 for Yahweh,_H3068 nor offer_H5927 burnt offerings_H5930 with [that which] costs [me] nothing._H2600

25: So gave_H5414 David_H1732 Ornan_H0771 for the place_H4725 shekels_H8255 of gold_H2091 by weight_H4948 six_H8337 hundred._H3967

26: And built_H1129 there_H8033 David_H1732 an altar_H4196 to Yahweh,_H3068 and offered_H5927 burnt offerings_H5930 and peace offerings,_H8002 and called_H7121 on_H0413 Yahweh-_H3068 and He answered him_H6030 by fire_H0784 from_H4480 heaven_H8064 on_H5921 the altar_H4196 of burnt offering._H5930

27: So commanded_H0559 Yahweh_H3068 the angel-_H4397 and he returned_H7725 his sword_H2719 to_H0413 its sheath._H5084

28: At time_H6256 that_H1931 when saw_H7200 David_H1732 that_H3588 had answered him_H6030 Yahweh_H3068 on the threshing floor_H1637 of Ornan_H0771 the Jebusite,_H2983 and he sacrificed_H2076 there._H8033

29: For the tabernacle_H4908 of Yahweh,_H3068 which_H0834 had made_H6213 Moses_H4872 in the wilderness,_H4057 and the altar_H4196 of the burnt offering [were],_H5930 at time_H6256 that_H1931 at the high place_H1116 in Gibeon._H1391

30: But not_H3808 could_H3201 David_H1732 go_H1980 before it_H6440 to inquire_H1875 of God,_H0430 for_H3588 he was afraid_H1204 of_H6440 the sword_H2719 of the angel_H4397 of Yahweh._H3068
